General saving behavior
All edits done by the user within the Dynatrace UI trigger the confirmation dialog.
The advantages of this pattern are:
- reducing uncertainties of the saving status
- providing the possibility to bulk save several edits (e.g. in settings)
- avoiding accidentially made edits
Despite the standard save and discard button, the confirmation dialog can also be used to trigger mulit-editing and context related actions.
How to save a chart to a dashboard
This particular saving behavior is used only to add a chart to a dashboard. Changes as well as new custom charts are saved via a pin to dashboard button. Clicking this button will open a context dialog which contains a select to choose the dashboard and a preview for the user how the dashboard tile will look like.
